From ₱350 to ₱2,400 for gel nails — the price gap is massive. We tracked 34 salons and found price does not reliably predict quality.
We tracked gel nail prices across 34 salons in Metro Manila over 3 months. The price range — ₱350 to ₱2,400 for what appears to be the same service — reflects wildly different product quality, technique standards, and sanitation protocols.
The most important variable no one discusses: gel brand quality. The difference between budget brands (Semilac, some domestic brands) and premium brands (OPI GelColor, CND Shellac, Gelish) is significant in terms of longevity, color accuracy, and health safety.
At ₱350–₱600, the gel used is almost certainly a domestic or low-cost imported brand. The color may lift within a week and some of these brands have documented formaldehyde content exceeding safe levels. We recommend avoiding this tier for regular nail clients.
Mid-range (₱600–₱1,200) is where quality becomes reliable. Shimmer Nail Lounge (Trust Score: 87) at ₱580–₱1,200 uses Gelish — a reputable brand — and their cleanliness protocols are verified. This tier offers the best value for regular gel clients.
Premium (₱1,200–₱2,400) is for intricate nail art, hard gel extensions, or if you want OPI/CND exclusively. Polished Nail Atelier (Trust Score: 91) at ₱600–₱1,400 punches above their price point by using premium products throughout.
What gel nail pricing should include but rarely advertises: soak-off removal of previous gel at the start of the service. Many salons charge ₱150–₱300 extra for this. Always ask before booking if removal is included. The best salons include it automatically.
